Just get started!
Oh heyyyyyyy...
Long time no blog, right?
Well, thank you all for the huge success of my book launch! I did hit #1 on Amazon, but might have fallen a bit in the rankings since. It takes a LOT to launch a book! Almost as much as it takes to write a book! It might have worn me out a little bit on writing, because I really haven't written anything that's been read outside of a conference room since then!
That's what we're here to talk (write, whatever) about today.
But first!
I came across a little life lesson today... something that I feel might be of interest to you.
Do you wanna know what it is?
Well too bad, I'm telling you anyway!
If there's one thing that I've learned in my old age (well, today in my old age anyway), it's this:
I have a lot of unnecessary hair.
That's right. I said it.
I've been a long-haired creepy computer guy for a quite a while, and I'm all cool with that. Like Samson's strength came from his hair, my geeky goodness comes from mine. But that ain't the hair I'm talkin' about.
I'm talking about all the hair growing in places it has no business growing. My ears... my nose... even a little crazy hair-on-steroids growing out of my eyebrows. And I just want to know why...
If I were living in the Sahara and needed a little extra protection from blowing sand I could understand it. But I don't think the occasional Arizona dust-storm warrants evolution turning me into a camel.
Long story short (too late)... I just trimmed it and moved on with my day.
And now here's something you'll really enjoy.
After the success of this blog and my book and really wanting to put all of my inspirational and geeky awesomeness and all of Cindy's creative and clever awesomeness to a better purpose, Cindy and I have decided to pursue blogging as a career. We bought a couple of extra domains and a business license and formed an LLC and everything. We've done all the up-front stuff except get a business plan (put that on my to-do list).
As part of the roadmap, we bought a course on blogging from a company called Create and Go. You'll be hearing more about that as we get started up.
One of the first assignments of the course is to write something. Just to start with a "here's why I'm starting this blog" post, and then move into a couple of other types of posts.
And I'm stuck.
I'm going to stop putting things off, starting tomorrow! ~Sam Levenson~
I've been stuck for a couple of weeks. I can't even write the "about" page (and we all know how much I like writing about myself!).
So inspiration struck while I was trimming my hair today...
When I sit down and start trying to type like my income depends on it... I'm all "wut... wordz... gud..." but I can come here and talk (write, whatever) to you with no problem.
And I know that one way to get started writing is just to start writing. Because one way to get started with anything is to just get started.
And I knew that coming here and talking to you would be a great way to get started. (say get started again!)
Thank you for being such a good listener. And for always being there when I need a shoulder to lay my head on, a safe place to pour my heart out, and a pretty darn good view when I just need something to feel grateful for.
and thank you for helping me just get started.
Now I need to just get finished!
Yay! I’m so glad you’re back! 🙂
Can’t wait to see where your next blogging adventures will take us.
